With our backgrounds in architectural photography we approach each assignment with an immense knowledge of lighting spaces and architectural composition. The residence, designed for a single mother and her son, is located on their family’s property within the navajo reservation in southeastern Utah. Intended to achieve a balance with the surrounding environment, it aims to both protect from the harsh desert climate, while utilizing the beneficial attributes of the natural elements to maintain a comfortable microclimate within the home. This manifests itself in the focal point of the residence, the central hearth, or “windcatcher.”
